Earthquake in Cyprus

Two relatively minor earthquakes of 4.2 and 3.3 shook the Larnaca area at 3:18 and 5.16 respectively on Thursday morning.

The epicentre of both earthquakes was the area around Klavdia, 13 kilometres west of Larnaca and were felt in both the Larnaca and Nicosia district.

“We felt both of them. There was no damage but the bed shook and the windows rattled,” said on resident of nearby Mosfiloti.

The first quake was at depth of 10 kilometres while the second was at a depth of 6 kilometres.

The Geological Survey Department said it was monitoring the development of the phenomenon.
